Yin is a very organized and systematic writer, which promotes learning the material. He gives exercises to complete (I didn't do) that would be excellent if done in a classroom setting. His slant appears to be a bit toward program evaluation, but this book covers more than that. However, if you are more interested in something like interpretive phenomenology, you could use this as more of an overview book, though Creswell's books probably are more comprehensive in terms of covering different methodologies.
As a novice researcher chasing my doctorate, this is an excellent book that explains the how to conduct research in various methods.
